Akebia quinata 'Alba' is a fast-growing, semi-deciduous climber with decorative light green leaves composed of 5 leathery bracts. This variety is unique for its pure white, fragrant flowers which appear from April to May. Since it has both male and female flowers, it is not only a beautiful ornament, but also an excellent pollinator for other cacobia varieties.
After flowering, the plant produces interesting sausage-shaped fruits, the flesh of which is edible and sweet. The stems wrap around supports, making the plant ideal for growing near fences, pergolas, gates and other supports. It can also be left free to climb trees, creating a natural, wild look.
This variety is well suited for covering arches, pergolas or arbors, where it creates dense and attractive foliage with beautiful white flowers. If you're looking for an easy and fast-growing climber that will add an exotic touch to your garden, Akebia quinata 'Alba' is the ideal choice.
