New Peaches 2026: Alexia, Triumf, and Superba de Toamnă
Romanian Trio for the Demanding: Introducing 'Alexia', 'Triumf', and 'Superba de Toamnă' Peaches
Romania is a country with a long tradition of stone fruit growing, and the Fruit Research Station Băneasa (SCDP Băneasa) is a leader in breeding resilient and tasty varieties. For the Spring 2026 season (expected sale late April/May), we have selected three exceptional peach varieties that cover the entire season and offer growers top quality.
“These varieties debunk the myth that quality peaches only come from the south. They are bred for continental conditions, excel in frost resistance, and 'Superba de Toamnă' can produce fruits weighing up to 400 grams!”
1. 'Alexia': The White Pearl with a Fast Start
The variety 'Alexia' (registered in 2002) is a cross of ‘Flacara’ and ‘Marygold’. It is the ideal choice for those who prefer a more delicate taste and don't want to wait long for the first harvest.
Taste and Flesh
Alexia belongs to the group of peaches with white-creamy flesh. Such peaches are known for their juiciness and specific, highly aromatic flavor. It is sweet with medium acid content, creating an excellent, refreshing experience.
Record Holder in Early Bearing
One of the biggest advantages of this variety is its very early onset of bearing. You can expect the first crop as early as the 2nd year after planting. From one mature tree, you can get 35 – 45 kg of fruit.
Resistance: Shows good resistance to powdery mildew and viral diseases.
2. 'Triumf': The Golden Giant of Summer
The variety 'Triumf' (registered in 1994) is the result of crossing the legendary 'Elberta' and 'May Flower'. As the name suggests, it is a triumph of breeders in the categories of size and taste.
Fruits You Won't Miss
It ripens in mid-summer (late July to early August). The fruits are large to very large (240 – 260 g) with golden-yellow skin and a deep red blush. The flesh is classic orange-yellow, crunchy, and red near the stone.
The Universal Soldier
Triumf is self-fertile and highly frost-resistant, making it a reliable variety for most gardens. The fruits are versatile – excellent for eating, but thanks to the firmer flesh, they are also great for canning and freezing.
3. 'Superba de Toamnă': The Autumn Queen
If you want to pick peaches when others are finished, 'Superba de Toamnă' (registered 1977-1982) is a must for you. It is the latest variety in our offer, ripening in September.
Extreme Size
This variety rightly boasts the title "Superba". Its fruits reach a weight of 150 to an incredible 400 grams. They are white-yellow with a beautiful red blush and cherry stripes.
Frost Protection
The secret of its regular fertility lies in late flowering. Thanks to this, the flowers often escape dangerous late spring frosts that tend to destroy the crops of other varieties.
