  • The variety of gooseberry called RODNIK was bred in Russia and is a popular type of red dessert fruit known for its advantages of having few thorns and excellent taste.
  • The growth of RODNIK gooseberry is moderate and compact, with numerous healthy shoots. Under ideal conditions, it reaches a height of 1.2 to 1.5 meters. RODNIK gooseberry has very small thorns.
  • RODNIK gooseberry is self-pollinating and does not require another pollinator for fruit set.
  • The fruits are large, weighing about 5 grams, and have an oval shape. They start off green and turn red as they ripen. The taste is excellent, very juicy, sweet, and dessert-like. The fruits of RODNIK gooseberry have longer stems, making them easy to harvest. A mature bush can yield up to 5-7 kilograms of fruit. The fruits are suitable for direct consumption as well as processing or storage in the refrigerator.
  • Harvesting starts in mid-June. RODNIK gooseberry bears the most fruit on 1-3-year-old shoots and is among the most productive varieties. The yield is high and consistent.
  • It has high resistance to diseases, including American gooseberry mildew.
  • RODNIK gooseberry is fully frost-hardy.
  • Gooseberries are best grown in sunny locations but can tolerate partial shade. The preferred soil is fertile and rich in humus.
