  • The excellent Chester blackberry variety was bred in America. It is a thornless variety with large, glossy fruits and a superb blackberry aroma.
  • Chester blackberry grows moderately strong with an upright habit and requires support. It does not have thorns.
  • The fruits are large, sweet with a slight acidity, and have an excellent blackberry flavor. They have an oval shape, a shiny black color, and weigh approximately 6g. It is a highly productive variety that is easily grown, primarily suitable for home gardeners.
  • The harvesting period starts from July and continues until frost. Chester provides a very abundant and regular yield.
  • It prefers slightly acidic soil that is moderately moist. It tolerates water deficiency better than raspberries due to its deeper root system.
  • Chester blackberry requires a sunny or partially shaded location.
  • It can be planted throughout the year, preferably at a distance of 1-3m.
  • The fruits of Chester blackberries are very healthy and suitable for direct consumption as well as for making juices or preserves.
  • It has good resistance to diseases and the highest level of frost hardiness.
  • In summer, prune the tips of the one-year-old canes to stimulate branching. In early spring, shorten the main cane to a height of approximately 1.7m and the lateral canes to a length of 30-40cm. After harvesting the fruits, immediately remove all fruiting canes and any excess summer canes. Leave 5-7 strong canes for fruiting in the following year.
  • It is self-pollinating.
