Sweet Cherry 'Claudia' on Gisela 5 rootstock is a self-pollinating and reliably fruiting variety that is among the highest quality columnar cherries. Thanks to its upright and slender growth, it is ideal for smaller gardens, narrow spaces or container cultivation. The tree grows to a height of approximately 2 to 2.5 meters and, thanks to the Gisela 5 rootstock, remains compact even in adulthood, reaching a maximum of 2.5 to 3 meters. Regular pruning is recommended to maintain the typical columnar shape.
The fruits ripen in the second half of June. They are medium-sized, with an average weight of 9 grams, dark red, firm and resistant to cracking. They form in dense clusters on fruit-bearing branches that grow from the main axis of the tree. The flesh is light red, fleshy, sweet and aromatic, making it an excellent cherry for both direct consumption and processing. The variety has high and regular fertility, bears fruit at an early age and, thanks to its firm structure, is not very sensitive to damage during transport. It is also suitable for storage in the refrigerator. Due to its low chemical protection requirements, the 'Claudia' cherry is also suitable for organic cultivation.
