This combined plant of the Actinidia deliciosa species represents a highly effective agrotechnical solution, as two complementary cultivars are grafted onto a single rootstock: the female, fruit-bearing cultivar ‘Jenny’ and the male pollinator ‘Tumori’. This arrangement ensures reliable pollination and subsequent fruit production on a single plant, eliminating the space requirements of planting separate plants.
Although the fruit-bearing cultivar ‘Jenny’ is partially self-pollinating, it achieves significantly higher fertility and fruit quality thanks to the presence of the pollinator ‘Tumori’, whose flowering is synchronized for maximum efficiency. 'Jenny' produces cylindrical fruits 3 to 5 cm long, with a typical brown, slightly pubescent (hairy) skin. The rich green flesh has an aromatic character and a balanced ratio of sugars and acids.
From a cultivation point of view, it is a strong-growing vine requiring a stable support structure. It starts bearing fruit early, usually in the 2nd to 3rd year after planting, with the potential for very high yields. The fruits are ready for harvest from mid-October to November and are characterized by excellent storability, maintaining their quality in refrigerated conditions until April. The plant shows high resistance to common fungal pathogens and pests and is frost-resistant to -24 °C.
