Kiwi

Actinidia arguta, Actinidia deliciosa, and Actinidia kolomikta are deciduous, woody vines from the Actinidiaceae family, native to East Asia. Botanically, they are predominantly dioecious plants with alternate leaves, whose fruit is a multi-seeded berry. While A. deliciosa (classic kiwi) has a typical brown fuzzy skin, A. arguta and A. kolomikta (known as mini kiwis) are characterized by smooth, edible skin and significantly higher frost resistance. From a nutritional point of view, their fruits are low in calories but extremely rich in fiber, minerals (potassium, magnesium) and, above all, vitamin C, whose content often exceeds that of citrus fruits. The phytochemical profile combines a high concentration of antioxidants, especially polyphenols, flavonoids, and carotenoids. Another important common component is the proteolytic enzyme actinidin, which aids in the digestion of proteins.
