- The Brown Turkey Fig Tree (Ficus carica 'Brown Turkey') is a variety of fig tree originating from the Mediterranean region, and it is widely distributed worldwide. It is suitable for cultivation in our conditions and is among the most cold-resistant varieties.
- The growth of the Brown Turkey Fig Tree is moderate, reaching a height of 3-4 meters depending on the conditions and pruning. It can be grown as a tree or a shrub. The crown is evenly distributed.
- The fruits form without pollination. The size of the fruits is approximately 40g-50g. The color of the fig ranges from reddish-brown to purple. The shape of the fruit is pear-like. The fruits have a sweet taste and juicy flesh. Figs are often consumed fresh, but they can also be dried or processed into various dishes.
- The fruits ripen from August to September.
- The Brown Turkey Fig Tree is among the most cold-resistant varieties, tolerating frost down to -18 degrees Celsius. In the first years of cultivation, winter protection for the tree is advisable.
- The fig tree requires a sheltered location on the southern side and well-draining, slightly calcareous soil.
