'Moni' is a modern German plum variety from the Bavarian Fruit Centre, ranking among the absolute best. It is unique for its complete resistance (hypersensitivity) to Sharka, exceptionally sweet taste with high sugar content, and the ornamental effect of yellow leaves after flowering.

Variety Characteristics

Tree

• Vigor: Medium.
• Specifics: Has a unique ornamental feature – approx. 2 weeks after flowering, leaves turn golden-yellow (not a disease). In July, they turn rich green again.

Fruit

• Size and Weight: Medium size, 36 – 40 g.
• Shape and Color: Oval to elliptical. The skin is purple to dark blue with a strong waxy bloom.
• Flesh: Firm to very firm, amber-orange color.
• Taste: Excellent, gourmet quality, distinctly sweet (extremely high sugar) and highly aromatic.
• Stone: Completely separates from the flesh (Freestone).
• Usage: Universal – fresh consumption, cakes, drying, distillation.

• Sharka: The variety is completely resistant (hypersensitive) to Plum Pox Virus.

Cultivation Recommendations

• Pollination: Self-sterile. Suitable pollinators: 'Cacanska lepotica', 'Haroma', 'Mirabelle', 'Anna Spath'.
• Harvest: Very long harvest window – fruits last on the tree for up to 3 weeks after ripening without becoming overripe.
