Apple (Malus domestica) 'Real'

Modern summer variety with large fruits and scab resistance.

'Real' is a modern apple variety bred at the SCDP Voinești station. It is valued for its large fruits, regular yields, and especially for its resistance to Scab. Although it is a summer variety (ripening late August / early September), its fruits can be stored for up to 3 months.

Main advantages of the variety:

• Resistance to Scab.
• Low susceptibility to Powdery Mildew.
• Large fruits (175 – 185 g) with attractive red coloration.
• Regular yield (25 – 30 t/ha).
• Good storage life (3 months).

Variety Characteristics

Tree

• Vigor: Medium.
• Bearing: Bears fruit on short branches as well as long shoots. Yields are regular, averaging 25 – 30 t/ha.

Fruit

• Size and Weight: Large, 175 – 185 g.
• Shape and Color: Truncated conical. Base color is green-yellow (straw yellow), approximately 2/3 of the surface is covered with red color. Lenticels are visible.
• Flesh: White-creamy, firm, and juicy.
• Taste: Sweet, with balanced acidity.
• Usage: Suitable for fresh consumption and processing.

Resistance and Requirements

• Resistance: The variety is resistant to Scab.
• Tolerance: It is only slightly susceptible (weakly attacked) to Powdery Mildew.

Harvest and Storage

• Harvest time: Summer variety, ripens late August to early September.
• Storage: Approximately 3 months after harvest.
