Columnar Apple (Malus domestica) 'Uldis'

One of the earliest columnar varieties on the market.

'Uldis' is a Latvian columnar apple variety whose greatest advantage is its extremely early ripening—the fruits are ready even before the most famous early variety, 'White Transparent'. It is the ideal choice for anyone who wants to enjoy the first apples of the season from a tree that doesn't take up much space. The fruits are large, attractive, red-striped, with soft, juicy, and tasty sweet-tart flesh. The variety has good frost hardiness and good disease resistance.

Main advantages of the variety:

  • Extremely early ripening: One of the very first apples to ripen in the season.
  • Columnar growth: Suitable for small gardens, patios, or for growing in rows.
  • Large and tasty fruits: Juicy fruits with a pleasant sweet-tart flavor.
  • Good frost hardiness and disease resistance.
  • Good productivity.

Origin and Registration

  • Country of origin: Latvia, Dobele
  • Breeder: R. Dumbravs
  • Cross: KV-35 × ‘Doch Melby’
  • Year of registration: 2011
