The 'Aroma Spur® Rotl.' variety is specially bred for growing in confined spaces. Thanks to its exceptionally narrow and compact growth, it offers the chance to enjoy your own fresh peaches even if you don't have room for a traditional spreading tree. In addition to its delicious fruit, it boasts high ornamental value, especially during its abundant spring bloom.

Variety Characteristics

Tree

• Vigor and Habit: Weak to medium vigor, strictly columnar, and very compact. It forms only very short lateral branches. Reaches a height of about 2 to 2.5 meters and a width of only 60 to 80 cm.
• Flowering: Blooms in April. The delicate pink flowers are highly attractive to bees and pollinating insects.
• Pollination: The variety is fully self-fertile.

Fruit

• Size and Shape: Medium-sized, round fruits.
• Color: Beautiful yellow-red (the yellow base color is largely covered by an attractive red blush).
• Taste and Flesh: The flesh is juicy and very sweet. The typical peach aroma evokes a touch of summer exoticism.
• Use: Universal. Perfect for eating fresh straight from the tree, as well as for desserts, cakes, or fresh juice.

Resistance and Requirements

• Frost: The tree itself is frost-resistant. Note: When grown in containers outdoors, it is essential to protect the root ball from freezing (e.g., by wrapping the pot with jute or bubble wrap).
• Diseases: Like most peaches, this variety can be susceptible to peach leaf curl, so standard preventative spring spraying is recommended.
• Location: Requires a sunny and warm spot, protected from strong winds (ideally near a south-facing wall).

Cultivation Recommendations

• Container Growing: When grown on a balcony, the tree requires high-quality, well-draining soil. Due to the limited root space, a stricter regimen of regular watering and fertilizing is absolutely necessary.

Harvest and Yield

• Harvest Time: Medium-late variety. Fruits ripen during August.
• Yield: Good and regular. However, it should be noted that due to the small canopy volume, the total yield in kilograms is naturally lower than that of traditional spreading trees.
