Family Apple Tree (4 in 1): Korta + Baltais Dzidrais + Merrigold + Antonovka

A unique fruit tree combining the best Baltic and Russian varieties, ensuring a continuous harvest of delicious apples from July until January.

1. Apple 'Korta' (Very Early Summer Variety)

A Latvian rarity and the ultimate season starter. Ripening as the very first, it surprises with exceptionally sweet fruits.

The 'Korta' variety kicks off the apple season on this tree. It ripens even before the well-known 'White Transparent'. It is a rare historical variety (1947) that functions as a botanical chimera—branches may produce apples with varying intensities of red blush (from deep red to almost white).

Main advantages of the variety:

  • Extremely early harvest: The first sweet apples of the season right in mid-summer.
  • Exceptional sweetness: Significantly sweeter than most other very early varieties.
  • Frost hardiness: Good overall cold resistance.
Fruit and Harvest
  • Appearance: Large pale yellow fruits with brick-pink stripes and patches.
  • Harvest Time: Very early summer (beats standard summer varieties).
  • Storability: A typical summer variety meant for immediate consumption, does not store long.

2. Apple 'Baltais Dzidrais' (White Transparent / Early Summer Variety)

The famous "White Transparent." A legendary summer apple with a refreshing sweet-sour taste, ideal for fresh eating and purees.

Right after 'Korta' comes 'Baltais Dzidrais' (commonly known as White Transparent or Papirovka). It excels in absolute low-maintenance requirements, early cropping, and an unmistakable flavor that, for many, is the synonym of childhood and summer.

Main advantages of the variety:

  • Classic summer taste: Refreshing sweet-sour, very tender, and juicy flesh.
  • Low maintenance and immunity: Excellent frost hardiness and good resistance to apple scab.
  • Versatility: Great eaten straight off the tree, unbeatable for baby food and pies.
Fruit and Harvest
  • Appearance: Medium to large apples with the typical pale yellow to green-yellow color.
  • Harvest Time: Very early, picked at the turn of July and August.
  • Storability: None. Reaches eating maturity immediately after picking.

3. Apple 'Merrigold' (Autumn Variety)

An old Latvian variety with pale yellow fruits, delicious pulp, and stable yield that holds firmly on the tree.

In mid-September, the Latvian autumn variety 'Merrigold' takes over. It delights any grower seeking reliability, as the fruits hold excellently on the branches even in stronger winds. It offers a great, balanced sweet-sour taste.

Main advantages of the variety:

  • Flavor and aroma: Juicy, fine-grained flesh with a very pleasant scent.
  • No fruit drop: Ripe apples hold reliably on the branches until harvest.
  • Winter hardiness: Good resistance to winter frosts.
Fruit and Harvest
  • Appearance: Medium to large, slightly oblong fruits of bright yellow color with a thin waxy bloom.
  • Harvest Time: Ripens in mid-September.
  • Storability: Medium, intended for direct consumption and autumn processing.

4. Apple 'Antonovka' (Winter Variety)

The legendary Russian winter apple. The embodiment of absolute resilience, extreme frost hardiness, and an unmatched baking aroma.

This family tree is grandly completed by the Russian legend 'Antonovka'. With its extreme resilience (withstanding frosts down to -40 °C) and massive yield potential, it bears fruit reliably even in harsh mountain conditions. Its fruits, with their unmistakable strong scent, are the absolute global top tier for baking pies and home processing.

Main advantages of the variety:

  • Extreme frost hardiness: The hardiest variety, ideal for harsh and mountain conditions (down to -40 °C / -40 °F).
  • Unbeatable for processing: The best apple for pies, purees, ciders, and jams.
  • Unmistakable scent: Unique, strong fruit aroma typical of this variety.
  • Pollination: An excellent pollinator for other varieties, and it greatly benefits from the presence of the other varieties on this tree.
Fruit and Harvest
  • Appearance and taste: Medium to large, slightly ribbed fruits of greenish-yellow color. Refreshing sweet-sour taste (suitable for diabetics due to lower sugar content).
  • Harvest Time: Mid-September.
  • Storability: Good; keeps in the cellar in excellent condition until January.
