Quince (Cydonia oblonga) 'Darok Onuku'

A reliable self-fertile variety from Ukraine with high yields.

'Darok Onuku' (which translates to "A Gift for the Grandson") is a high-quality Ukrainian quince variety, prized especially for its self-fertility, resilience, and high, stable yields. This tree is attractive not only for its fruits but also for its large, beautiful flowers that appear in May. The fruits ripen in October, have a typical broad pear shape, and a rich lemon-yellow color. The flesh is hard, but becomes soft and very aromatic after processing. It is an ideal variety for making jams, marmalades, compotes, or brandy.

Main advantages of the variety:

  • Self-fertile: Reliably produces fruit even without another quince tree nearby.
  • High and stable productivity.
  • Resilient and low-maintenance: Growing requirements are similar to those of apple trees.
  • Large, aromatic fruits: Ideal for processing.
  • Attractive appearance: Large flowers in spring and yellow fruits in autumn are an ornament to the garden.
