Hybrid Plum (Prunus sp.) 'Skoroplodnaya'

A popular Russian variety with fast and stable productivity.

'Skoroplodnaya' is a very popular and widespread Russian hybrid plum, whose name translates to "early bearing." It fully earns this name thanks to its extremely early entry into bearing (as early as the 3rd year) and its stable yields. The tree has a smaller, compact growth habit, making it ideal for smaller gardens. The fruits are medium-sized, an attractive yellow-red color with an excellent, aromatic, and sweet-tart taste. It is noted for its good frost hardiness and high resistance to fungal diseases.

Main advantages of the variety:

  • Very early entry into bearing: Fruits as early as the 3rd year after planting.
  • Stable productivity: Delivers a regular harvest every year.
  • Excellent dessert flavor: The fruits are juicy, aromatic, and have a balanced sweet-tart taste.
  • High disease resistance: Resistant to shot hole disease and fruit rot.
  • Compact growth: Grows only up to a height of 3–3.5 meters.

Origin and Registration

  • Country of origin: Russia
  • Cross: Ussuri Plum (Prunus ussuriensis) × American Plum ‘Climax’
  • Year of registration: 1965
