Pear (Pyrus communis) 'Triumf'
Early summer variety with buttery flesh and an attractive red blush.
'Triumf' is an excellent summer pear variety bred at the Romanian institute Piteşti – Mărăcineni. It was created by crossing ‘Napoca’ and ‘Beurré Giffard’. It is popular for its early ripening (as early as mid-July) and very tasty fruits with fine, buttery flesh and distinct red coloration.
Main advantages of the variety:
- Early ripening (second decade of July).
- Attractive fruits (50 – 60% of the surface is red).
- Buttery, fine, and sweet flesh.
- Resistance to Scab and Leaf spot.
- Good to high productivity.

Fruit
- Size and Weight: Medium to large, 120 – 150 g.
- Shape and Color: Conical or pyriform, slightly asymmetric. The skin is yellow-green, with 50 – 60% of the surface covered by bright red on the sunny side.
- Flesh: White, fine, buttery (melting), medium firm, and juicy.
- Taste: Very good, sweet.
- Usage: Intended for immediate fresh consumption.
Resistance and Requirements
- Disease resistance: Resistant to Scab and Leaf spot.
Cultivation Recommendations
- Pollination: Partially self-fertile. For better yield, pollinators are recommended (e.g., ‘Daciana’, ‘Argessis’).
