Plum (Prunus domestica) 'Violetta'

A self-fertile Swedish variety ideal for small gardens.

'Violetta' is an excellent Swedish plum variety that is perfect for modern, smaller gardens. Its greatest advantage is its dwarf and compact growth, which means the tree requires almost no pruning and is very easy to harvest. The fruits are medium-sized, an attractive dark blue color, and have firm, juicy, and very tasty sweet flesh. The variety is self-fertile, comes into bearing extremely early (often in the 2nd year), and produces high and regular yields.

Main advantages of the variety:

  • Dwarf and compact growth: Ideal for small gardens, growing only 2-3 meters tall.
  • Self-fertile: Reliably produces fruit even without another plum tree nearby.
  • Extremely early entry into bearing: Delivers a harvest as early as the second year after planting.
  • High and regular productivity: Produces an abundant crop every year.
  • Very good sweet taste: The fruits are delicious, and the flesh separates well from the stone.
