Apple (Malus domestica) 'Generos'
Winter Romanian variety with excellent taste and scab resistance.
'Generos' is a highly valued Romanian apple variety bred at the SCDP Voinești station. It is known for its polygenic resistance to Scab and tolerance to Powdery Mildew, making it an ideal choice for organic orchards and gardens with minimal chemical protection. The fruits are not only healthy but also very tasty and have a long storage life.
Main advantages of the variety:
- Resistance to Scab and tolerance to Powdery Mildew.
- Long storage life (until April).
- Large fruits (160 – 180 g) with attractive red coloration.
- Fine, crisp, and juicy flesh.
- Early bearing onset and regular yield.

- Vigor: Medium.
- Crown: Inverted cone shape, strong scaffold branches.
- Bearing: Bears fruit on short wood, starts early, heavy and regular crops.
Fruit
- Size and Weight: Medium to large, 160 – 180 g.
- Shape and Color: Round, slightly flattened. The skin is yellow-green, covered with light red color on 60 – 70% of the surface.
- Flesh: Yellow to yellow-white, fine, crisp, and juicy.
- Taste: Sweet-sour, finely aromatic, very pleasant.
- Usage: Excellent for fresh consumption and processing.
Resistance and Requirements
