Family Apple Tree (4 in 1): Korta + Roberts + Pervinka + Auksis

A fascinating tree of four flavors, launching the season in early summer and finishing with the Baltics' most beloved, long-storing autumn variety.

1. Apple 'Korta' (Very Early Summer Variety)

A Latvian rarity that ripens as one of the very first, offering exceptionally sweet and juicy fruits.

The 'Korta' variety is the absolute kick-starter of the apple season on this tree. It ripens even before the well-known 'White Transparent'. It is a fascinating historical variety (bred in 1947) that functions as a botanical chimera—branches may produce apples with varying intensities of red blush (from deep red to almost white).

Main advantages of the variety:

  • Extremely early harvest: Ideal for the impatient, delivering the first apples of the season.
  • Very sweet flavor: The fruits are much sweeter and juicier than most other very early varieties.
  • Frost hardiness: The variety features good cold resistance.
Fruit and Harvest
  • Appearance: Large pale yellow fruits with brick-pink stripes and patches.
  • Resilience: Good frost hardiness and medium disease resistance.
  • Storability: A typical summer variety intended for immediate consumption, does not store long.

2. Apple 'Roberts' (Early Summer Variety)

A large, purple-red summer apple with excellent crunchiness and full resistance to apple scab.

Following 'Korta', the 'Roberts' variety takes the baton. This modern Latvian variety (2009) impresses with visually striking dark fruits. It is a strong, healthy tree, perfect for organic, chemical-free growing.

Main advantages of the variety:

  • Gorgeous color: Dark purple-red covers almost the entire fruit.
  • High resistance: Reliably immune to apple scab (Vf/Rvi6 gene).
  • Firm texture: Crunchy and juicy flesh that tastes best picked straight from the tree.
Fruit and Harvest
  • Taste: Yellowish flesh with a pinkish tint under the skin; sweet-sour and highly aromatic.
  • Harvest Time: Mid-August (around the same time as 'Discovery').
  • Storability: Short; keeps in the fridge for a maximum of 2 months. Ready to eat immediately after picking.

3. Apple 'Pervinka' (Late Summer / Early Autumn Variety)

A Russian cultivar with greasy skin, high yields, and a dessert flavor that smoothly bridges summer and autumn.

The 'Pervinka' variety steps in at the end of August. Originating from the All-Russian Research Institute (VNIISPK), it excels not only in scab resistance (Vm gene) but especially in its high tasting score (4.3 out of 5). It is a reliable spur-bearing variety.

Main advantages of the variety:

  • Dessert flavor: Highly rated sweet-sour, juicy flesh.
  • Excellent immunity: Resistant to scab and highly frost-hardy.
  • Visual appeal: Smooth, shiny, slightly "greasy" skin covered with a cherry-red blush.
Fruit and Harvest
  • Appearance: Medium to large fruits, turnip to conical shape.
  • Harvest Time: Late August to early September.
  • Storability: Short-term (early September to late October). Universal use.

4. Apple 'Auksis' (Long-storing Autumn Variety)

The most beloved apple in the Baltics! A gold-medal variety with fantastic sweet-sour flavor that lasts in the cellar until late winter.

The family tree is crowned by the Lithuanian legend 'Auksis'. Crossed from 'McIntosh' x 'Gravensteiner', it inherited incredibly tender and aromatic flesh. In the Baltics, it is the absolute quality standard, frequently used as a parent for new varieties (including columnar apples). This tree ensures you have fresh apples throughout the winter.

Main advantages of the variety:

  • Long storability: Apples remain in excellent condition until January or February.
  • Premium taste: Outstanding sweet-sour, highly aromatic, and very juicy flesh (won gold at Erfurt in 1965).
  • Organic friendly: Resistant to scab, powdery mildew, and bark diseases.
  • Pollination: As a cross-pollinating variety, it benefits tremendously from having other varieties directly on the same tree.
Fruit and Harvest
  • Appearance: Large fruits (120 – 130 g), flat-round. Light yellow base color with a carmine-red blush.
  • Harvest Time: Early September.
  • Yield: High, annual, and with a very early onset (already by the 3rd year).
