Talisman, often known by its synonym Kescha-1, is a highly prized and popular table grape variety, renowned for its huge bunches and exceptionally large berries. The bunches are dense, conical, and often weigh over a kilogram, making it one of the most impressive varieties in the garden. The berries themselves are oval to egg-shaped, have a beautiful amber-yellow color, and take on a golden hue in the sun. The taste of Talisman is another of its strengths; it is full, very sweet and harmonious, developing a pleasant and unobtrusive muscat undertone when fully ripe. The flesh is fleshy, juicy and crisp.
The most important and absolutely crucial fact about growing Talisman is that it has a functionally female type of flower. This means that for reliable pollination and the formation of full clusters without pea-sized berries, it absolutely needs a pollinator nearby, i.e., another grape variety that blooms at the same time, such as Arkadia or Kodrianka. The bush itself grows very strongly and is characterized by high and regular fertility. It ripens in the mid-early season, usually in late August to early September, and also shows very good resistance to frost and major fungal diseases. Thanks to its attractiveness, excellent taste, and high yield, Talisman is a great choice for experienced gardeners who are aware of the need to provide it with a suitable pollinator partner and can thus fully exploit its extraordinary potential.
