Pear (Pyrus communis) 'Tzukerpere'
Traditional "sugar pear" from Banat with extremely sweet taste.
'Tzukerpere' is a very old and long-lived Romanian pear variety originating from the Banat region. It received its name ("Sugar Pear") due to the extremely sweet taste of the fruits, which resemble sugar. It is a low-maintenance variety that can live for over 100 years on a suitable rootstock.
Main advantages of the variety:
- Extremely sweet taste and strong aroma.
- Long lifespan of the tree (on seedling rootstock).
- Good resistance to frost and drought.
- Universal usage (excellent for brandy).
- Fruits grow in clusters.
