Pear (Pyrus communis) 'Tzukerpere'

Traditional "sugar pear" from Banat with extremely sweet taste.

'Tzukerpere' is a very old and long-lived Romanian pear variety originating from the Banat region. It received its name ("Sugar Pear") due to the extremely sweet taste of the fruits, which resemble sugar. It is a low-maintenance variety that can live for over 100 years on a suitable rootstock.

Main advantages of the variety:

  • Extremely sweet taste and strong aroma.
  • Long lifespan of the tree (on seedling rootstock).
  • Good resistance to frost and drought.
  • Universal usage (excellent for brandy).
  • Fruits grow in clusters.
